We all need to be patient in life.
And that’s because, without patience, it impossible to serve God.
Life is filled with ups and downs.
One moment we are happy, and the other moment we are tempted by the devil.
In our challenges and temptation, we must remain undeterred and focused on our service to God.
That’s where patience comes in.
Patience is the ability to hold back and persevere through all forms of temptations and trials.
It is one of the main qualities we need to put on as Christians.
Each day we face lots of temptation and pain.
We are angered and hated by a lot of people for serving Christ.
We also face lots of trials and tribulations set by the devil.
In our anger, frustration, and suffering, we must be patient and trust in God.
Having said that, the exact words “patience is a virtue” is not in the bible.
It is an idiom used many years ago to illustrate patience as one of the virtues of Christians.
But thankfully, there are numerous verses about patience in the scripture.
I have put together similar patience is a virtue bible verses to inspire you today.

1 Thessalonians 1:3
We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.
being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience,
Stand firm, and you will win life.
I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word, I put my hope. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.
1 Corinthians 13:4-5
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.
Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.
You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. 9 Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!
Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict,
but the one who is patient calms a quarrel.
Whoever is patient has great understanding,
but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
it speaks of the end
and will not prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it;
it[a] will certainly come
and will not delay.
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

to the one who seeks him;

for the salvation of the Lord.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,
But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
2 Peter 1:5

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds,
For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him,
Final words of encouragement
1. We will face temptations
If you are going through a tough patch in life, remember that its all part of the game plan
The scripture is clear that we will all face different kinds of trials
And that’s why we always pray to our father “not to lead us into temptation.”
But he has promised in numerous scriptures, that he will also create a way out.
God doesn’t forsake those that completely put their trust in him.
He is faithful and keeps every of his word.
So, if you are hurt, unhappy, angered, or hated by those around you, you must remain resolute in your faith.
We all need to nourish our faith with the word of God.
In times of difficulties, through his word, we can encourage ourselves and let go of our pain.
So, whatever your trials are today, God will come to your rescue.
The scripture says,
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13
2. Pray always
Temptations and trials are inevitable
They will come, but we must be prepared for them
We can ask God not to lead us to temptations
And if you are facing serious challenges, we can ask God for a way out
God hears prayer, especially the prayer of the righteous
So, don’t be idle. Be faith-driven and put all your challenges in the hands of God
Is it your workplace? Or your failing health?
There is nothing God cannot do
I am a witness that God answers prayers
He does, and you will be astonished when your solution arrives
The scriptures say,
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
3. Indeed, patience is a virtue
The bible teaches us to pray always
That’s is, we must pray without season
So, what happens when you pray, and it is yet unanswered?
Or, what happens when you face trial and there is still no way out?
That’s where patience comes in
We must learn to be joyous in our challenges
No matter what you are going through, be happy and continue trusting in God
All things, whether good or bad, work together for good for those who love God
May God instill patience in your heart and answer all your prayers. Amen.
