28 Bible verses about enemies (powerful Scriptures)

No matter how they try, they will never succeed.

Everyone that tries to bring you down will be ashamed of your success.

There are lots of people frolicking around you that are just jealous of you.

They plan to hurt you and betray you at every moment they get.

You’re absolutely mistaken if you believe you have no enemies.

Despite your love and humility, you will still be hurt by those you least expect.

They are just interested in hurting you or bringing you down.

So, how do we treat someone that obviously hates us? Should we reciprocate the hate shown by our enemies? What does the bible say about enemies?

The bible is clear about how we should treat those that hate us.

Thankfully, there are numerous scriptures about enemies that we can learn from.

God has instructed us to love and pray for them.

Their wickedness isn’t enough reason to pay them with evil.

Think about it for a second — We are not perfect beings ourselves.

We have hurt others in one way or the other.

And yet, even while we were sinners, God still loved us.

Therefore, since we’ve decided to serve him, we must be patient with our enemies.

I have put together bible verses about enemies to inspire you.

Exodus 23:22

Bible verses about enemies (powerful Scriptures)

If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you.

The Bottom Line

Sometimes, I wonder why we have to sit back and watch others hurt us.

Why should we not return evil for evil?

This is simply because we serve a living God.

God understands your pain and anguish (don’t think he doesn’t).

He has promised us victory over all forms of attack by our enemies.

No matter where you are or what you are going through, be patient for God to act.

God has promised that if we serve him, he will fight our battles for us.

He will be an enemy to our enemies and will hate those that hate us.

He has promised never to leave you molested and hurt by your enemies.

God will stand by you and protect you.

Luke 6:27

Bible verses about enemies (powerful Scriptures)

“But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

The bottom Line

God has not just instructed us to do nothing; he has asked us to fulfill a difficult task.

He wants us to love those that are actively seeking ways to destroy us.

He wants us to be kind to them.

The truth is, one easy way to hurt those that hate you is to love them.

They become confused and ashamed of themselves.

I have been in such a situation before where I was hated by a friend who tried everything to embarrass me.

But in her hate and jealousy, I was trying to reconcile with her.

I even appointed her as one of the members of a committee set up at work.

She just couldn’t understand why, and suddenly her behavior changed towards me.

Sitting back isn’t enough. As Christians, we must love our enemies and pray for them too.

Our prayer is a path towards our protection.

If God has promised to stand by you, all you need to do is pray for your enemies to return to Christ.

3 John 1:11

Bible verses about enemies (powerful Scriptures)

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.

The bottom Line

We are only Christians because Christ has shown us the way.

He has called us and given us a pathway towards salvation.

If we must be saved, we must live as he did.

There is nowhere in the scriptures that Christ hated his enemies.

The Jews and the Pharisees hated him.

Yet, he loved them and didn’t fight their advances.

That’s precisely how we should treat our enemies.

We must be patient and endure all their wickedness.

We must pray for them too and imitate Christ.

God will definitely give you victory over your enemies.

They openly look for ways to kill us.

But if God is for us, no one can kill us.

God protects our lives.

He has kept us in his bosom and is willing to protect us from our enemies.

God is saying, “Be courageous and not fearful.”
