In the first few weeks after my wedding, my home was in turmoil.
There was no peace, joy, or happiness between my wife and me.
Things continued to turn worse with each passing day until I suddenly asked for a divorce.
Quickly, my wife concurred and accepted that we end our new home ASAP.
As we were still trying to figure out our next plan, God intervened.
One morning, I woke up with a new spirit inside of me.
I wondered to myself, Why am I so unhappy in my marriage? Why can’t we find happiness in our new family?
In the end, I recognized I was just unhappy over trivial matters.
Nothing serious, but as expected, the devil has made our issues immense to take away happiness from our home.
So, that morning, I reached out to my lovely wife and apologized to her.
And in return, more like she was waiting for me to be an adult, she accepted.
It’s been over six months since we got married and we’ve never been so happy in our life.
Our family is now an inspiration to others, all to the glory of God.
The truth is, there are many ways the devil deprives us of happiness in our family.
It could be sickness, poverty, joblessness, disrespect from spouse or children, or other ways.
Whatever the trails in your family, With God, you are destined for happiness.
I have put together bible verses about family happiness and togetherness to motivate you and other family members.

The three aspects of family happiness
1. Husbands, love your wives
In the beginning stages of my marriage, I didn’t understand my duties as a man.
I was still focused on my selfish lifestyle as a bachelor.
But with marriage, a lot of things change for men.
The man is now the head of the family and must be ready to display leadership.
Leadership comes differently, and the truth is, our family’s happiness majorly depends on how we perform our roles.
We must love our wives like we love our bodies.
One of my brother’s marriages struggled to find happiness because he cheated on his wife.
He didn’t really understand the impact of what he was doing until everything began to collapse in front of him.
The truth is we must love our wives and treat them with respect and honor.
And not just that; We must love our children too.
The scripture describes a father who neglects the needs of his children as an infidel.
That means, besides training up our children with love and discipline, we must provide for their needs.
The scripture says
Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
2. Wives, be submissive
I want to state honesty that, in my experience, a submissive wife is the result of a loving husband.
When women are treated with love, they naturally reciprocate the gesture.
Most times in my marriage, I have been the sole cause of our problems.
However, not every marriage is the same. And I understand that some women are not submissive to their husband’s authority.
To find true family happiness, wives must submit to their husbands and love them in return.
Submission to your husband encompasses all aspects of your life.
The scripture says,
Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands
3. Children respect your parents
Some months back, I saw a patient in the clinic that needed to be admitted.
He had come into the hospital with his daughter.
The lady was in her early twenties and unconcerned about the dad’s travails.
A few days after her dad’s admission, she left.
The dad was left alone in the hospital with no one to cater to his needs.
As children, we must also learn to love our parents and respect them.
The scripture says,
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
