Bible verses to strengthen a struggling marriage
Ephesians 5:28.
28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
The good news
This is one of the most essential pieces of advice in marriage.
You must both love yourselves like your own bodies.
If you love yourself, you quickly see that love conquers every satanic plan in your marriage.
If your marriage is struggling, learn to love your spouse and do that wholeheartedly.
If we can’t love, then we cannot heal.
And if we cannot heal, your marriage will keep struggling.
But how can you love your partner in this trying time?
How do you love someone that has hurt you severely?
The truth is we must learn to forgive.
We must learn to let go of all our pains and disappointment to let peace in.
We all sin daily, and despite our iniquities, God still saves and protects us from the devil.
He gives us multiple chances to return to the light.
Same way, we must let go and love our partners.
When we do this, God will turn our struggling marriage into a home of peace and happiness.
This bible verse encourages husbands to love their wives as their own bodies.
They must see them as their flesh and be willing to make them happy.
When we see our partner as a part of our bodies, our understanding changes, and we learn to be mindful of every one of our decisions.
Ephesians 4:2.
2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
The good news
How else can you find strength in marital difficulties?
How else can you heal a failing marriage?
You need God’s love to flow into your marriage.
And you need to be ready to love your partner as yourself.
If we submit ourselves and become humble, our marriage will blossom with love and peace.
There is no reason to feel too proud in your marriage.
Why are you proud and selfish?
Why do you feel everything depends on you?
Why not give love a chance t help you heal?
To heal a struggling marriage, we must learn to be humble.
We all have our differences and issues with our marriages.
But we must learn to understand each other’s weaknesses and not use them against each other.
No one is perfect, and we must all make mistakes.
This is why we must be humble and talk to each other respectfully.
We must learn to bear each other in love and be patient when there are issues in our marriage.
Don’t be too quick to call for a divorce.
Don’t be too quick to cause a quarrel.
But be humble and patient, allowing God to intervene to strengthen your struggling marriage.
Ephesians 5:25.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
The good news
Love in marriage is reciprocal and must be from the heart.
Husbands must love their wives and treat them well.
There is no room for hatred and hostilities.
We must also learn not to pay back hurt in our marriage.
We must learn not to always discuss our internal affairs with others.
We must ask for wisdom from God to help us overcome every trial we face.
God is always ready to help you when your marriage is struggling.
He is ready to give you the strength you need to overcome your trials.
This bible verses encourage husbands to love their wives.
But wives as well must also love their husbands and treat them well.
When love becomes reciprocal, healing takes place.
Love cover s altitude of sins.
It heals all broken hearts in difficult moments.
Love is a powerful tool that can help you overcome your current struggles.
We must learn to be like christ, who gave e us his life for us.
Christ loved us and gave his life for our salvation.
Similarly, if we must love, we must learn to make sacrifices.
We must learn to let go of issues in our marriage.
God will give you the wisdom and understanding to navigate this trying period. Amen.
Matthew 6:14-15.
14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
The good news
There are many issues in every struggling marriage.
But it all starts with forgiveness.
If you forgive and let go, you can unite and move forward.
Let go of all hurt and disappointment to give you the strength you need.
Finding strength in an unhappy marriage is impossible if you don’t forgive.
Finding peace is impossible if you don’t forgive each other.
This is why we must ask God for a forgiving heart.
We need a heart that can deal with pain.
We need a heart that can stay strong in times of marital fighting.
We need a heart that will quickly forgive and let go despite our reservations.
So, we must depend on God to help us with our troubles.
This bible verse reminds us of our responsibility on earth.
We must forgive those who hurt us if we want God also to pardon our iniquities.
Since we are sinners, we have no choice but to forgive others that hurt us.
If we don’t, God will not pardon us, and we will be guilty of our transgressions.
Fixing a struggling marriage start with forgiveness. So, forgive and let go.
Proverbs 3:5.
Trust in the Lord with all your heartand lean not on your own understanding;
This is one bible verse that you meditate with in trying times.
When you are weak and have no one to turn to, you must trust God to help you.
In times of marital troubles, your first approach shouldn’t be discussing your issues with your friend or family.
But your first approach is to seek God for solutions beyond you.
When we seek God, he is ever ready to help us.
When we lean on God, he will give us the wisdom to overcome our trials.
There are many people who seek the opinions of their friends in a turbulent marriage.
Or they ask for opinions on how to deal with issues in their marriage.
The truth is, most time, the best solutions come from within.
And God is the only one to give us the wisdom to heal and overcome.
So, don’t lean on yourself.
Don’t trust others to help you in times of need.
Talk to God in prayers and ask for strength when you are hurt.
When we depend on God, he will help us overcome all our trials.
Romans 15:1-2.
15 We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2 Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.
This is a crucial bible verse to read in a failing marriage.
When your marriage is struggling, you must act fast.
You need to pray and ask God for a solution.
And when we have prayed, we must be ready to make sacrifices ourselves.
No marriage is perfect, and we must make sacrifices to keep moving forward.
You may have disagreements about issues, but with wisdom, you may have to let go of your stance on some critical issues in your marriage.
This bible verse encourages us to support each other in marriage.
We must stand by each other and be willing to strengthen each other.
Genesis 2:21-24.
21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs[a] and then closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib[b] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bonesand flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’for she was taken out of man.” 24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
How can one fight with his flesh?
How can you struggle with a part of yourself?
Can you hurt your right hand because the left is in pain?
Each time you face challenges in your marriage, this bible verse should give you the strength you need.
Marriage is not an ordinary event we must joke about.
It is a divine arrangement from God to unite people in love.
The woman was formed from a part of the man.
So, they are indivisible because they are one flesh.
So, why hurt your own flesh?
When we fight in our marriages, we do not fully grasp the concept of one flesh.
We do not see things from the perspective that we are both parts of the same body.
So, stop fighting and start reconnecting with your partner.
Make every effort to make peace, and God will give you the strength you need.
You can’t fight with your own flesh, so ask God to restore love in your marriage.
1 Corinthians 7:10.
10 To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband.
This is one bible verse that must sink in turbulent times.
We must understand that marriage is inseparable.
We cannot just wake up and decide we are tired of our marriage.
Can we separate our heads from our bodies?
Can we separate our abdomen from our legs?
Since we are one flesh, there are no options for divorce in marriage.
I have been in a similar position in the past.
In the first few months after marriage, we both got tired because of the multiple issues we were dealing with.
But in all our fighting, we knew that divorce was never an option.
We knew we must return to the drawing board and look for common grounds for our problems.
So, don’t consider divorce an option but believe God will heal your marriage.
Psalm 37:5.
Commit your way to the Lord;trust in him and he will do this:
In times of trouble, we must commit our marriage to God.
W must ask for wisdom to say the right words.
We must ask For the strength to overcome our pains and trials.
Commit your marriage to God, and he will act.
Matthew 5:32.
32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
This bible verse reiterates my previous point that divorce is not an option.
We must look for ways and ask God to help us.
Don’t depend on your opinions alone.
But keep praying and believe that everything will work out for your good.
So, trust in God to restore peace and happiness in your home.
Matthew 19:5.
5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’[a]?
Since you said “yes” and made your marital vows, there is no going back.
You have become one flesh with your partner and are already inseparable.
So, stop thinking about a divorce and seek god help in your marriage.
