Bible verses about self worth and self esteem (Scriptures)

Self-esteem and confidence are needed qualities in God’s service.

And that’s because the devil could easily manipulate our subconscious into thinking we are not perfectly created.

I grew up in a neighborhood where everyone feels so much of themselves.

They insult you hoping that you will be demoralized and ashamed of yourself.

But the truth is, no one can make you lose confidence in yourself.

Thankfully, there are many inspiring scriptures about self-esteem and worth.

The English dictionary defines self-worth as “confidence in one’s own worth or abilities; self-respect.”

In other words, loving yourself the way you are and respecting your actions.

But what does the bible say about self-esteem and confidence?

In simple terms, the bible defines self-esteem as loving and accepting yourself the way God has created you.

God has given each of us unique abilities and physical attributes.

We are created in his image and after His likeness.

We have been created by the only powerful and perfect being on earth.

In other words, we are perfectly made by God.

If anyone thinks you are not great, either because of your looks or abilities, he is ignorant.

I have put together bible verses about self-esteem and self-worth to inspire you to love yourself more.

Bible verses about self-worth

Genesis 1:26

Bible verses about self worth and self esteem (Scriptures)

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

The bottom Line

It doesn’t make sense to believe that God has not blessed you.

God has created you, from the beginning, in his own image.

He has perfectly blended your genes into someone unique that you are.

The truth is people will try to humiliate you for how you look.

Or say words to make you unhappy or feel less of yourself.

But the truth is, God could not have made a mistake in your creation.

I have come to realize that we are who we say we are.

If we understand that God has perfectly made us, we carry ourselves in that manner.

We become more confident in who we are and not scared to mingle with others.

Psalm 139:14

Bible verses about self worth and self esteem (Scriptures)

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

The bottom Line

What point does it make when others think you are not beautiful?

Or what point does it make when you feel less of yourself?

From the beginning, God has beautifully made you.

He has carefully created you to be beautiful and confident.

He hasn’t made you ugly or timid.

He hasn’t made you less confident in yourself.

So, you need to start seeing yourself the way God sees you.

He sees you as a god that he has perfectly made.

So, ignore everything anyone says about you.

Try to think about yourself as a perfect being and be less concerned about what others say.

I have known that people only try to belittle others because they are entirely ignorant.

If God says you are beautiful, there is no reason to think otherwise.

2 Timothy 1:7

Bible verses about self worth and self esteem (Scriptures)

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

The bottom Line

In the early phases of my life, I struggled with my looks.

Somewhere in my heart, I told myself, “I don’t look good enough.”

I look at others and compare them with myself.

In the end, I say to myself, “I don’t look as good as they look.”

But you will be surprised how others look up to you in their mind.

They wish that they had one or two qualities you don’t appreciate.

The truth is, if you are timid, you may quickly lose your confidence.

When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, fear is replaced with love.

God’s love is not fear or cowardice.

When it comes upon you, you begin to love yourself the way you are.

This is why we need to pray and ask for wisdom from God.

We also need to understand that our happiness and confidence come from God.

The devil uses many ways to deprive us of the happiness we desire.

But we are confident that we have what it takes to overcome over challenges that we face.

God has not made us cowards. He has not given us the spirit of fear and nervousness.

So, we must look to God and keep setting our minds on things above.

We can only have the confidence to navigate every trying time in our lives by accepting our mission on earth.

Our goal on earth is to serve God and keep his commandment.

God will give you the confidence you need and will humiliate people making fun of you.

1 Timothy 6:6-12

Bible verses about self worth and self esteem (Scriptures)

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.

The bottom Line

In my experience, we quickly lose confidence when we are not contented enough.

“I don’t look beautiful,” or “I have added some weight and look ugly.”

If you do not appreciate who you are, no one else will.

We must learn to appreciate ourselves the way we are.

Self-esteem is accepting who God says you are.

And not just that, believing you can serve Him joyously, despite other people’s opinions.

I felt I wasn’t a handsome guy in the past, and I could quickly look down at myself.

But I was wrong.

Most of my friends wish they had my qualities.

I was one of the most intelligent students in my class, and everyone wanted to be friends with me.

I didn’t see this part of my life because I was focused on other areas that I wasn’t blessed with.

God has created us for a reason, and his purpose for our lives must be fulfilled.

This is why we need to take a break from all our worries and understand that there are important qualities that we have that others wish they had.

So be content with who you are and try to improve yourself.

Remember that our goal on earth is to live a sinless life.

We must be humble and never let our earthly qualities determine who we are.

So, Look at yourself and be contented with your qualities.

If you don’t respect and love yourself, no one will.

Ecclesiastes 4:4

Bible verses about self worth and self esteem (Scriptures)

And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

The bottom Line

Besides being content, we must learn to see others as equals.

Unquestionably, God has blessed each of us with unique attributes.

But don’t envy them because you will quickly lose confidence in yourself.

Instead, keep thanking God for all the qualities you have.

Learn to develop your skills and improve yourself.

When you are more concerned about how others look, you will lose confidence in yourself.

No one can create a strand of hair on your body.

Therefore, they have no right to look down on you.

Be courageous and bold, for God has perfectly created you.

Joshua 1:9

Bible verses about self worth and self esteem (Scriptures)

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Here is another critical bible verse about self-esteem.

There are moments when we struggle to contain our disappointment with our lives.

“I don’t like how I look.”

“I’m not confident because of the color of my skin.”

“I am not as beautiful as my friends.”

“I don’t have money or a job like most of my friends.”

The truth is we need to understand that God has not created every finger equally.

And even more inspiring is that God has time for everything.

If you are unemployed and losing confidence, you don’t need to.

God has a reason for it and will bless you at the right time.

If you are yet to get married, there is no reason to feel ashamed. At the right moment in your life, God will send you the best partner you need.

This bible verse about self-worth teaches us to remain strong and confident in God.

We must not let our trials or hardship affect our confidence in God.

We have no one to look to in tough times.

We also have no one to depend on when the chips are down.

So don’t be afraid of your physical limitations.

Don’t get discouraged by how you look or your mental capabilities.

God has a reason for creating you, and your life’s purpose will be fulfilled.

So, trust in God and never lose your confidence because of earthly trials.

Genesis 28:15

Bible verses about self worth and self esteem (Scriptures)

I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

God will not let you fight your battles alone.

He understands that you need strength and confidence to overcome your trial.

But will you abandon you when you need him most?

Our confidence lies in the fact that God will make way for us.

He will provide solutions when there seem to be none.

And in challenging moments, he will give us peace and happiness.

So don’t worry about what people say about you.

Don’t let other people’s decisions shape your life negatively.

You are created in God’s image, and you must never stop reminding yourself of how special you are.

Jeremiah 1:8

Bible verses about self worth and self esteem (Scriptures)

Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.

This is another bible verse about self-motivation amid obstacles.

There is no doubt that everyone has issues they are dealing with.

But when your troubles become unbearable and now affecting your confidence, be sure to look to God for help.

In trying moments, God can give you rest and improve how you feel about yourself.

You don’t need to be the strongest to succeed in life.

You don’t need to be the most beautiful to fulfill God’s plans for you.

You don’t need the richest to impact the world positively.

What we need as Christians is the confidence that God is always with us every step of the way.

So, do not panic. Instead, be confident of who you are.

Romans 8:15

Bible verses about self worth and self esteem (Scriptures)

The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.[a] And by him we cry, “Abba,[b] Father.”

If we can kill our fears, we can achieve anything we desire.

This is why we need to keep praying for faith.

Faith makes us look to God in all situations, not minding what people say about us.

When we have strong faith in God, we don’t care about our current situations because God will open doors for us.
