Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV]

What does the Bible say about man as the head of the family?

What does the Bible also say about man as the provider for the household?

Does the Bible give man the authority to make decisions for the family?

The truth is God has designed the family architecture right from the world’s creation.

God created man first, then created the woman as a helper to man.

But over the years, with civilization taking over, there has been confusion over the head of the household.

Thankfully, there are bible verses about man as the head of the family.

These scriptures remind us that the man is the head of the household and should make critical decisions for the family.

There is a hierarchy in the world: God, then Christ, then man, then woman, and then animals.

This doesn’t in any way take away the importance of the wife from the family.

Another way to describe this is that the man is the head, but the woman is the neck.

Both can’t exist without support from each other.

I have put together bible verses about man as the head of the household.

Read and be blessed.

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household.

1 Corinthians 11:3.

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV] (16)

But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man,[a] and the head of Christ is God.

This is the most relevant bible verse about man as the head of the family.

God has given man the power to make decisions.

He has given him the power to navigate every issue in the family.

God has also made man the spiritual head of the family.

So, overall, man should own up to his responsibility and fulfill them.

But how does a man become the head of the family?

What does it mean for the man to be the head?

Does it make the woman entirely irrelevant?

Is it God’s plan for the woman to be redundant in the home?

The truth is God has a reason for everything.

In the beginning, God created man first in the book of Genesis.

And when he saw man’s loneliness, he created the woman from the man.

The woman was created from the man.

The “woman” was also named after the man.

Does it make sense that the woman should be the head?

God’s thoughts and understanding are infinite.

He sees what we do not see and has given man the sole role of being the head of the family.

This bible verse is vital to distinguish the hierarchy God has set from the beginning.

God is the most powerful being in the universe and the head of Christ.

Christ is the head of man and the church.

While the man is the head of the wife, children, and family.

Genesis 3:16.

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV] (16)

To the woman he said, “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe;with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”

God’s plan can never be mistaken.

He sees the future and knows what the world will become.

Thousands of years before we were born, God cursed the woman to be under the man.

Remember, God created the woman to be a helpmate and to assist the man with running the home.

He had no full intention of subjecting the woman to the man.

But everything changed the moment the woman, eve, ate the fruit of Good and evil.

God cursed the woman, saying a woman’s desire is for her husband.

This is exactly what happened in the days of Abraham, Isaac, and David.

Their wives worshiped and served them, accepting them as the head of the family.

In most traditions, we accept the man as the sole leader of the family.

And today, even in modern times, the man’s leadership in marriage cannot be over-emphasized.

But does that enslave the woman?

Is it God’s intention to subject the woman to the male-kind?

The truth is God had no intention of enslaving the woman, and submissiveness in marriage is not slavery.

We must understand the relationship between God and Christ.

God is the head of christ, And yet they are ONE.

Jesus said my father and I are ONE.

This is a crucial point to note in marriage.

Marriage doesn’t give us the room to subject our wives to slavery.

It doesn’t give us the room to maltreat our wives.

If we must serve God, we must accept our wives as one flesh.

When we unite and come together, we separate from the world and cling together in oneness.

That’s the unity we must allow to govern our homes.

Colossians 3:18-19.

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV] (16)

18 Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.

This is another crucial bible verse about the woman’s submissiveness in marriage.

God has a reason for making man the head of the family.

And the reason goes beyond our physical understanding of life situations.

The truth is, without a point of leadership, there would be no direction in the home.

There would be no love or peace in the family.

Surprisingly, some men do not realize that they are the head of the family.

They do not see themselves as one due to financial or emotional reasons.

We’ve heard of men afraid to lead because of conflicts with their wives.

Some men are afraid to take leadership roles in the family because their wives deny them sex.

But the truth is, God will never be happy with us when we don’t take up our responsibility.

This bible verse reminds women to be submissive to their husbands in marriage.

They must learn to obey and respect every decision he makes.

God doesn’t care if the woman is more affluent than the man.

Or if the man is disabled or unemployed.

God is interested in our mutual submission to each other.

He wants the woman to submit in everything to her husband.

Another critical thing to note is that every husband must love and treat their wife exceptionally.

Why should you beat up your wife?

Why should a man not provide for the family?

Why should you starve your wife of sexual intercourse?

The truth is, if we love our wives, we must love them as our own bodies.

We must treat them well and provide what they need.

Think about Christ’s love for us.

While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

If Christ could make sacrifices for us, why not make sacrifices for your wife and family?

Being the head of the family is not just a title but a reminder of the responsibilities on your shoulders.

Ephesians 5:22-24.

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV] (16)

22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Besides physical submission, how else can a woman submit to her husband?

Truthfully, submission in marriage is for every aspect of a woman’s life.

It involves every decision you make in your marriage.

For instance, if you want to move out of your apartment and your husband says “no, ” you must accept his decision.

Likewise, if your husband isn’t in support of your business, you must quit.

While some will frown at this, God expects the husband to love the wife as His own body.

Why would a loving husband not want the best for his wife?

Why would a husband deny his wife of the good things she desires?

In the oneness of marriage, a husband’s love and a wife’s submission work hand in hand.

1 Peter 3:1-6.

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV] (16)

1 Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV] (16)

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV] (16)

Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV] (16)

For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands,

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV] (16)

6 like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.

Take a look at this bible verse closely.

The Bible reminds us of what a perfect woman Sarah was in the Bible.

Sarah was the wife of Abraham and was devoted and submissive to her husband in everything.

She respected her husband and stood with him all through their trials.

Not for once did she not fully submit to her husband.

And in the challenging years of barrenness, she advised that her husband sleeps with her maid to bear children.

The truth is all Christian women must learn from Sarah.

They must work on their inner being and develop their mind.

They must build their spiritual life and focus on how to respect and love their husbands.

A good Christian woman must always be submissive and love her husband with everything in her.

So, don’t fight over the man’s leadership in the family.

Instead, accept God’s position of man as the head of the household.

1 Timothy 2:11-13.

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV] (16)

11 A woman[a] should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[b] she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve.

This goes straight to the point.

God commands that a woman must be in submission to her husband.

And in the church, they are to learn in submission to their husband.

They cannot ask Questions in the church or make recommendations if they choose to.

If they must, they must ask their husbands at home.

A woman must be completely submissive to their husband and obey the commandments of God.

This bible verse confirms that God has not given a woman the power to teach a man.

He has not also given a woman the ability to govern over a man.

The man is the head and must remain so forever.

1 Peter 3:7.

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV] (16)

Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

While the wives must be submissive, the husband must be loving.

A loving husband cares about his wife and the children.

He is careful not to hurt her and carries her along with every decision in the family.

Genesis 2:18.

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV] (16)

18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

When God created man, he knew that he was lonely.

He knew the incompleteness of man in himself. This is why God created a woman to be a helper.

1 Corinthians 11:7-12.

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV] (16)

A man ought not to cover his head,[a] since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV] (16)

10 It is for this reason that a woman ought to have authority over her own[b] head, because of the angels. 11 Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman.

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV] (16)

12 For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.

The complexities of this world are laid bare in this bible verse.

We already know that the man is the head of the family.

We also know that the man is the head of the wife.

But this bible verse reminds us that the man is born of a woman.

So, as much as the man is the head, he must also be respectful to other family members and their crucial marital roles.

Proverbs 18:22.

Bible Verses about Man As Head Of Family and Household [NIV] (16)

He who finds a wife finds what is goodand receives favor from the Lord.

Marriage is a beautiful union of love and respect.

I have been married for three years and can’t imagine my life without my wife.

She has been a blessing to the kids and me.

She has stood with me through the tough moments of my life.

So, when we accept our roles in marriage and love each other from the depth of our hearts, we will find favor and more blessing from God.

He who finds a wife is blessed.
